Ehhh… Agreeing with you that the whole self-blinding thing is more than a bit crazy, I can’t help thinking you’re being a bit unfair here. I don’t share the religious beliefs of these ultra-orthodox jews, but it seems to me that they’ve been raised to believe that these rules matter and, more importantly, they’re trying to find a way to follow them without bothering anybody else.

If more religious people took the view that finding a way to follow their superstitions in the modern world is their own problem, rather than trying to make the world conform to their beliefs, I’m pretty sure the world would be a better place. Go ultra-orthodox jews!

    • You’re probably right…it’s a lot less invasive than it could be. I just can’t identify with their mindset at all, so when I see something like this it seems extra crazy to me. 🙂 If Christians would just stick to going to church and maybe put on some blurry glasses of their own instead of being huge, hateful dicks about things, I could get behind that!

Say it!
