La la la…another day, another indecency complaint by the Moral Police. This time they’re targeting shows like “Family Guy”, but somehow they think the Extreme Makeover shows are good family entertainment. You know, those shows where they take people and tell them that the only path to true happiness is through corporate-sponsored plastic surgery. (Just hope they don’t back out of the deal.) Do I really need to mention something about parents controlling what kids watch, or at least helping them understand it? Do I really?
The complainers are called the Parents Television Council. Say, isn’t this the same group of kneebiters who are responsible for 99% of the FCC’s indecency complaints? Why, yes it is! As a matter of fact, they are a spinoff of the Media Research Center, which is basically a bunch of churchy zealots who scour every word of every news story out there in an attempt to keep us all believing that there’s a ginormous liberal conspiracy out there in media-land. (Watch Fox much?) The PTC, on the other hand, watches countless hours of television so they can document every little evil, immoral, nasty, non-churchy thing they see. Reminds me of those people who watch porn for 24 hours a day so they can remind us of how dirty it is. Gee, thanks.
The leader of this group has his grubby little hands in all sorts of Christian political cookie jars, which causes me to immediately dismiss anything he says. If these people are so concerned about helping others, why don’t they go work in a soup kitchen or help raise money for poor kids who need clothing and healthcare? But no, it’s much easier to sit around and watch T.V. all day. I’m sure it’s what Jesus would do.
