In one of the most absurd gestures of political worship I’ve ever seen, a couple of entomologists have named three new species after Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld. Besides the incredibly dorky nature of it, how fitting that the names of these politicians were given to insects…nasty little creatures which feed on carcasses, constantly fight for dominance, and devour lesser bugs at every opportunity. But that’s nothing that a rolled-up newspaper can’t fix. Thanks to Christopher Robin for passing this along!
Two US scientists have paid tribute to their favourite politicians by naming three species of beetle after them.
President George Bush, Vice-President Dick Cheney and Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld were all honoured.
One of the entomologists said he admired all three men for “having the courage of their convictions” and standing up for freedom and democracy.
The three beetles who now bear their names are among 65 newly discovered species which feed on mould.
