Ugh, what a depressing thing.  I’m lucky that my family have been 100% cool with the gay thing and even welcoming my partner into the fold without a second thought, especially considering their political leanings.  They’re conservative but not hatefully so.  A lot of people I know have had a very different experience–maybe not to the point of making them homeless, but definitely alienating them by passing religion-fueled judgment.

And as much as my mom drives me nuts with her Obama/Muslim crazy talk, she’s never been anything but supportive to me and welcoming to my partner.  She even asked him to be a pallbearer for her mother’s funeral!  I think if she was the religious type things may have been different, but she’s not–so she’s free to make up her own mind on how to feel about things.  Her parents (mostly her dad) were hardcore Republicans but not the churchy types.  They encouraged their daughters to learn and think for themselves, but with a conservative slant.  This is probably why my mother is an interesting mix of contradictions.  Because of her upbringing she’ll always vote Republican and swear that “the liberals and socialists” (who are all Muslim sympathizers, of course) will destroy this country…and yet she’s pro-choice, pro-environment, and pro-gay marriage.  Yeah, I don’t fully get it either!

As many as 40 percent of homeless youth identify as LGBT, and a new Williams Institute study of youth shelters confirms this estimate. Between October 2011 and March 2012, 354 agencies completed surveys about their clients and found that about 40 percent of their homeless and non-homeless clients were LGBT 9 percent of whom identified as bisexual. About 30 percent of clients using housing-related services like emergency shelter and transitional living programs were LGBT.

What was particularly disconcerting about this study was how evident family rejection contributed to this disproportionate number of homeless LGBT youth.

Of all the agencies’ LGBT homeless clients, 68 percent have experienced family rejection and more than half 54 percent experienced abuse in their family. Fortunately, nearly 80 percent of the service providers who work with clients under the age of 18 are doing family acceptance-related work, though only about half of providers working with older youth offer such resources.

“Heyyyy, gurls! My name’s Alan and I’m a power bottom for Jesus! I like fashion, short walks with my wife, LONG walks with the boys from church, and triple-headed dildos. I also make a mean quiche if you stick around for breakfast! Hee! Hit me up on Grindr or Facebook or poofs4christ.net, ‘kay? Byeee!”

What…a…creep.  This man is responsible for convincing parents to put their children through emotional, psychological, and physical abuse in the name of “curing” their homosexuality via Jesus’ hot, healing hands.  But now he says “Nah, we can’t really cure it.  Sorry about all that.  Oh, and by the way, I still get the urge to stick a penis in my various orifices now and then.  No big deal.”

You, sir, are a despicable human being.  I don’t give a shit how much you struggle with your urges — in fact, I hope you lose that struggle and are caught on tape getting gang-banged in a filthy airport restroom by a bunch of fat old men.  Only then would I even begin to feel any compassion towards you and this lying, self-loathing lifestyle you’ve chosen for yourself…you insufferable little shitmonkey.

The president of the countrys best-known Christian ministry dedicated to helping people repress same-sex attraction through prayer is trying to distance the group from the idea that gay peoples sexual orientation can be permanently changed or “cured.”

That’s a significant shift for Exodus International, the 36-year-old Orlando-based group that boasts 260 member ministries around the U.S. and world. For decades, it has offered to help conflicted Christians rid themselves of unwanted homosexual inclinations through counseling and prayer, infuriating gay rights activists in the process.

…”I do not believe that cure is a word that is applicable to really any struggle, homosexuality included,” said Chambers, who is married to a woman and has children, but speaks openly about his own sexual attraction to men. “For someone to put out a shingle and say, I can cure homosexuality — that to me is as bizarre as someone saying they can cure any other common temptation or struggle that anyone faces on Planet Earth.”

Chambers has cleared books endorsing ex-gay therapy from the Exodus online bookstore in recent months. He said hes also worked to stop member ministries from espousing it.

Chambers said the ministrys emphasis should be simply helping Christians who want to reconcile their own particular religious beliefs with sexual feelings they consider an affront to scripture. For some that might mean celibacy; for others, like Chambers, it meant finding an understanding opposite-sex partner.”I consider myself fortunate to be in the best marriage I know,” Chambers said. “Its an amazing thing, yet I do have same-sex attractions. Those things dont overwhelm me or my marriage; they are something that informs me like any other struggle I might bring to the table.”

This excellent article in Rolling Stone shows just how far some will go to demonize homosexuals.  In this case, an entire town (in Michelle Bachmann’s home district, no less) got into the act, forbidding school teachers from even approaching the subject in their classes, no matter what the context.  The trail of teenage suicide bodies they left behind did nothing but embolden their religion-fueled orgy of hate against anything and anyone associated with the “gay lifestyle.”

This shit will make your blood boil, and the below excerpt is only a taste of what the full article delves into.

LGBT students were stunned to be told for the first time about the existence of the neutrality policy that had been responsible for their teachers’ behavior. But no one was more outraged to hear of it than Tammy Aaberg. Six weeks after her son’s death, Aaberg became the first to publicly confront the Anoka-Hennepin school board about the link between the policy, anti-gay bullying and suicide. She demanded the policy be revoked. “What about my parental rights to have my gay son go to school and learn without being bullied?” Aaberg asked, weeping, as the board stared back impassively from behind a raised dais.

Anti-gay backlash was instant. Minnesota Family Council president Tom Prichard blogged that Justin’s suicide could only be blamed upon one thing: his gayness. “Youth who embrace homosexuality are at greater risk [of suicide], because they’ve embraced an unhealthy sexual identity and lifestyle,” Prichard wrote. Anoka-Hennepin conservatives formally organized into the Parents Action League, declaring opposition to the “radical homosexual” agenda in schools. Its stated goals, advertised on its website, included promoting Day of Truth, providing resources for students “seeking to leave the homosexual lifestyle,” supporting the neutrality policy and targeting “pro-gay activist teachers who fail to abide by district policies.”

Asked on a radio program whether the anti-gay agenda of her ilk bore any responsibility for the bullying and suicides, Barb Anderson, co-author of the original “No Homo Promo,” held fast to her principles, blaming pro-gay groups for the tragedies. She explained that such “child corruption” agencies allow “quote-unquote gay kids” to wrongly feel legitimized. “And then these kids are locked into a lifestyle with their choices limited, and many times this can be disastrous to them as they get into the behavior which leads to disease and death,” Anderson said. She added that if LGBT kids weren’t encouraged to come out of the closet in the first place, they wouldn’t be in a position to be bullied.

Tee-hee!  I love it when conservative turds (conservaturds?) like this float to the surface.  Just another closeted hypocrite caught in a very public way.  I’m done feeling sorry for these assholes.  (Oh wait, I never really did…)

I hope he bought a giant dildo that gave his cornhole a nasty skin rash.

SOUTHAVEN, Miss. — Receipts show Southaven Mayor Greg Davis, a Republican who ran unsuccessfully for Congress in 2008 on a family-values platform, charged the city $67 for a purchase at a gay sex shop in Canada.

The Mississippi auditor on Nov. 2 demanded Davis pay back more than $170,000 for personal expenses billed to taxpayers. There are no criminal charges from the auditor’s investigation. The FBI confirmed Dec. 7 that it is investigating Davis after the auditor’s probe showed possible violations of federal laws.

So Republican rep Phillip Hinkle is the latest anti-gay dickbag to be caught trolling Craigslist for sex with young men.  Seems like this happens once a week nowadays, doesn’t it?  And on Craigslist, even!  That’s the Penny Saver of sex shopping.  Can we all just save some time and agree that ANYone this vehemently and publicly anti-gay is probably hiding a dirty little secret?

Oh yeah, he’s calling the scandal a “shakedown.”  Really?  Kinda like the way you shook down your grandpa trousers for this 20-year-old?

The emails, sent from Hinkle’s publicly listed personal address, ask the young man for “a couple hours of your time tonight” and offer him cash up front, with a tip of up to $50 or $60 “for a really good time.”

The email exchange is in response to the Craigslist posting in which the young man — who lists his age as 20 in the ad but says he is 18 years old — says, “I need a sugga daddy.”

The young man told The Star that they met, but that he tried to leave after the man told him he was a state lawmaker. He said the lawmaker at first told him he could not leave, grabbed him in the rear, exposed himself to the young man and then later gave him an iPad, BlackBerry cellphone and $100 cash to keep quiet.

When contacted by The Star about the emails, Hinkle, a Republican who represents portions of Pike and Wayne townships, did not contest the emails but said, “I am aware of a shakedown taking place.”

Holy shit.  Is Brazil about to have a Straight Pride Day?  They’ve got to be fucking kidding.  And check out the below quote from the idiot trying to get this thing put into law, he sounds like a real piece of work.  ”A protest against the privileges the gay community enjoys”, eh?  Oh!  Do you mean, as Gawker points out, the 250+ people killed in Brazil last year for being gay?  This fucktard is right up there with the ones who like to wear “Proud to be straight!” t-shirts and then wonder why people start heckling them.  They simply don’t get it.

I’d like to see some large city pass this law here in America, as it would be vastly entertaining to see their lame-o parade slinking down the street:  a sea of popped-collar douchebags with their skanky girlfriends, stuffy old farts who have never even met a gay person, repressed whitebread families carrying Bibles and signs quoting scripture, and a few high profile anti-gay politicians who picked up young boys on Craigslist only the night before.  Yep, sounds like a perfect hetero parade to me!

Sao Paulo’s mayor is reviewing the legislation, but hasn’t signed it into law. If passed, Heterosexual Pride Day will take place on a Sunday each December. The man behind the bill, Carlos Apolinario, told the AP that he doesn’t hate anyone, he just wants this day to be held as “a protest against the privileges the gay community enjoys,” of which there are many. Just ask the 260 gays who were murdered in Brazil last year for being gay.

“I have no trouble coexisting with gays as long as their behavior is normal,” Apolinario added.

Now this evil slag is officially attached to GOProud, the confused, self-hating group of gay conservatives who actually think they’re doing something good for themselves.

You know, I find the self-destructive tendencies of some gay people to be vastly depressing.  How much do you have to hate yourself to allow America’s top psychotic conservative to promote your cause?  Gay Republicans are an anomaly I will never understand, because their very association with the right wing suggests deep-rooted self loathing and repression.

Washington, D.C. – Today, GOProud, the only national organization of gay conservatives and their allies, announced that Ann Coulter was joining the organization’s Advisory Council as Honorary Chair. Coulter’s official title will be “Gay Icon.” “Ann Coulter is a brilliant and fearless leader of the conservative movement, we are honored to have her as part of GOProud’s leadership,” said Christopher Barron, Chairman of GOProud’s Board. “Ann helped put our organization on the map. Politics is full of the meek, the compromising and the apologists – Ann, like GOProud, is the exact opposite of all of those things. We need more Ann Coulters.”

Over a year ago I posted about my new photo gallery of Grindr douchebags, and I haven’t really updated it since.  Today I get word that someone’s created a website that pretty much copies the idea, appropriately called douchebagsofgrindr.com.  If I’d had the time and energy (and the will) to devote to a website just for this, I shoulda done it when I had the chance!

Oh well, better that someone else carries on this important work!  He seems to be targeting a different kind of douche than I was, anyway.  I was picking out the popped-collar, pursed-lips kinda morons…  But the d-bags on his site are pretty goddamn disgusting, I gotta tell ya.

Now this is my kinda guy!  “Spiritual arrogance” is exactly the problem we’re dealing with here.  I would also call it spiritual elitism.  “I have the answers and I believe this way, so I’m going to Heaven…and you are not.”  To which I can only respond:

  1. Are ya 100% sure about that?
  2. Whatever happened to “Judge ye not”?
  3. Enjoy your fairy tales, asshole. :)

Sharing his views on gays and lesbians in the church, the role of religion in public policy and whether non-Christians can go to heaven, Gene Robinson, the Episcopal Churchs first openly gay bishop, conducted an adult faith forum Sunday at Episcopal Church of the Advent in Louisville.

“I know Jesus to be the son of God,” he told a group of about 50 people, “but what a small, limited God we would have if that was the only manifestation. I think Christians should stay away from spiritual arrogance and show more love, mercy and zeal for justice.”

He called on audience members to present an alternative to the activism of the religious right, saying, “I believe that theres a positive role for religion in the world, and weve already seen what not to do.”

If you can’t keep your personal beliefs and your medical treatments separate, maybe you should stay the fuck out of medicine to begin with, hmmm?  This case is especially offensive because it not only tries to “treat” gayness, but it does so with woo-woo homoeopathic (homo-pathic?) remedies which are rightly shunned by practitioners of real medicine.  Are these people insane?

A Catholic doctors association in Germany believes it can cure the sexual orientation of gays and lesbians with sugar pills — though only at their request, the group says. But the homo-homeopathy has been harshly criticized by members of its target community.

…The religious association, which calls itself the “voice of the Catholic medical community,” writes on its website that while “homosexuality is not an illness,” a host of treatments are available to keep such “inclinations” at bay. Possibilities include “constitutional treatments with homeopathic tools … such as homeopathic dilutions like Platinum,” “psychotherapy,” and “religious counseling.” Among homeopathys controversial treatments are the prescription of “Globuli,” tiny pills that consisting mostly of sugar.

“We know about a number of people with homosexual feelings who find themselves in a spiritual and psychological emergency and suffer greatly,” UCP head Gero Winkelmann told SPIEGEL in a written statement. “If someone is unhappy, ill or feels they are in an emergency, they should be able to find options for help with us.”

via SPIEGEL ONLINE

The Catholics are especially notorious for interfering with people via hospitals and clinics by buying them up and then mandating that their doctors can’t perform certain services that they disagree with.  Been raped and gotten pregnant?  Too damn bad.  They’ll make you have it, though they won’t do much to help raise it.  After it’s born, it’s not their concern…
